Yesterday Mike and the Dog were broadcasting live from Tradition Field, where they conducted a virtual smorgasbord of Met interviews. Here's a quick summary of the ones I heard:

Mike Pelfrey: "I now know what I was doing wrong in my bad starts in the bigs last year, and I've corrected it." Translation: Prepare to be dominated.

Jose Valentin: "Last year was not a fluke, and it's up to me to prove it. Having said that, I don't have to do too much in this stacked line-up." Translation: "If I hit .270 or so, that should be good enough to keep my job."

Carlos Delgado: He loves his family.

Shawn Green: He came within about 6 inches of catching Spiezio's triple in Game 2, which would've given the Mets a 2-zip lead in the series. Excuse me for a moment....

David Wright: "Golly gee-willikers, I had dinner at the White House with President Bush! Gee whiz, was it ever swell!" Translation: "Golly gee-willikers, I had dinner at the White House with President Bush! Gee whiz, was it ever swell!"

Howard Johnson: A lot guys he coaches has no idea he played. Also, he likes 'Stings.

Rick Peterson: Dog asked him if it's fair to say guys like Chan Ho have to show him something in training in order make the cut, to which Rick responded "everybody has to show me something," to which Mike responded, "well, maybe not Glavine." Heh.

Omar: "You know what I'm sayin'?"

Speaking of Florida, Toasty Joe's dad recently made an appearance at Cardinals camp down in Jupiter, in full Mets regalia. Here is the photographic evidence.


Apparently, neither Albert Pujols nor his back hair were present.
