Crappy-Headed Ho
I liked this quote from Chan Ho after last night's game: "I don't know exactly what happened," Park said.
Psst! Chan Ho! I do. You stink.
Not to toot my own horn too much, but I posted the following comment on Mets Blog yesterday:
"Somehow I have the feeling that Chan Ho is either going to pitch the first no-hitter in Mets' history tonight, or give up 7 runs in 2 innings."
Yowza! 2 innings, 4 innings, what's the difference. The important thing is I got the 7 runs right. And for that, I deserve kudos in mass quantities. Yes, that's right. I predicted that there was a very strong possibility that Chan Ho Park would suck. Someone build a statue in my honor.
As for other matters, the injury list is growing. Duque and Zorro, and now Goldfingers will have an MRI today. Ouch. However, I refuse to whine and cry about injuries to those guys. When you're relying on a few old fossils as your go-to guys, you have to accept this possibility. I'm more intrigued which direction the Mets will go if Goldfingers misses serious time. 'Stings is on the DL, so does Endy get the nod? Newhan? Do they bring up a kid?
Finally, if you ever find yourself home alone watching a game, I highly recommend stopping by the Hot Foot Bleachers, which can be accessed by going here. As many can attest, I was one ornery S.O.B. in the Bleachers last night. I think I have seen one too many pathetic, pitiful at-bats from Delgado and Wright, so I made many unflattering comparisons to Doug Mientkiewicz. Enough already. Willie really has to think about shaking up the lineup so at least we don't have two automatic outs in a row. Maybe be a little creative. How does this grab you (just thinking out loud here):
1. Reyes
2. Wright
3. Alou (assuming he's ok)
4. Beltran
5. Delgado
6. Lo Duca
7. Green
8. Easley/Gotay
Willie - you don't have to do this exact lineup, but just do me a favor: Take Taco Bell's advice and think outside the bun, will ya? Because I can't watch this massive black hole in the middle of the lineup for much longer.

Toasty - right on. Willie needs to have some b@lls!
And hey - this may seem out in left field, but were you over by Wall St yesterday in the afternoon? Either that was you or you have a twin brother. In Manhattan.

If you're talking around 3:00 pm or so, I was getting a haircut around Maiden Lane, which requires me to walk north from my office, past Wall. So maybe it was me.

I only watched intermittently following the Marlins' 5-run outburst early in the game. It didn't look like there were any well hit balls, and the Mets' defense surely wasn't helping Park, but I guess he can't make excuses afer the pair of dingers the following inning. After that I watched Heroes, which was excellent as usual. All Sci-Fi geeks not watching this show must rent the DVDs when they come out!
I was thinking the same thing about shuffling the lineup. For the moment, Wright & Delgado should not be hitting back-to-back. Wright at #2 makes sense, as he still seems to be drawing walks notwithstanding the slump. If Alou is out from the injury (and why won't he be, he's an old man like the rest of the guys on the DL), then Endy could bat #2 and maybe you flip flop Delgado and Green (if it's not too insulting for Carlos).
It really sucks that 'Stings went down so early in the season. It's probably too soon to bring up Gomez, so I guess we're going to be seeing Ricky Ledee again. Super.

If Alou is out, I think we will see DW in the second spot. This will get him some more fastballs, and hopefully allow him to break out.
11:36 AM
Ed - Maybe, but it's worth noting that Wright saw nothing BUT fastballs from Randy Messenger last night, and flailed at all three of them. He's f'd right now.

Willie has no cojones to shake up this lineup.
Bookie, Heroes last night was bets of the season. I cannot wait to see what happens next.
Chalk another Pelfrey blowup for tonight. Where's Humber??
3:07 PM
Toasty, you are becoming a regular F-list celebrity! Great job.
As far as our injuries go, this is what happens when you construct a team with decaying personnel, and should it have a negative impact it has to lie at Minaya's feet. Cashman took (and withstood) the same criticism last year. You can't bitch about injuries when you fill your team with aging veterans. I like the team better with 'Stings anyway.
Willie better have the balls to shake up the lineup. Wright looks lost out there.
Re: the Sopranos: Beansy's girlfriend died accidentally, no? Tony did not have any role?
I thought Entourage was the worst of the season, and I love that show.
4:04 PM
It's Hesh, not Beansie. Beansie was the guy Tony and Paulie hung out with in Florida last week. I think they left the cause of Hesh's girlfriend's death ambiguous.
4:14 PM
Incidentally, don't kill Omar just yet. I think he knew there was a good chance The Duque would go down, which is why he picked up Sele, Sosa, and Park over the offseason to complement Pelfrey and Humber. Plenty of options to fill the spot. Unfortunately, Park has been shit since day one, so the option looks like a dead end.
4:17 PM
I think part of this has been some unfortunate timing. We all expected Alou to go down at some point, but we weren't counting on 'Stings to be out for a month. We expected the Duque to miss time, but his start coincided with Joge Sosa's in New Orleans, so we were stuck with CHiPs. (I am still wondering why the Mets let Sosa pitch Sunday night; presumably they knew about El Duque's condition by the time the Zephs took the field, no?).
