I'm wondering if anyone ever reads this sentence.

And now, for the first time as husband and wife…

Mr. and Mrs. Toasty! Wait, or is it Mr. Toasty and Ms. Flitgirl? Or is it Mrs. Flitgirl-Toasty? Whatever… all that matters is that we all got to take a trip to Princeton this weekend to get drunk, dance, and watch these two get married.

Some of the highlights of the wedding were:

  • The slideshow of the lovely couple growing up; including photos of a young Toasty with Gary Carter, Doc Gooden, and wearing a “Kick Houston’s Ass” shirt while standing outside of Shea.
  • Everyone mentioning Toasty’s devotion to baseball and the Mets including all of his relatives, the deacon, and his new father-in-law (who happens to be… a Yankee fan)
  • The “walk-in” music at the reception which was a beautiful note for note rendition of “Meet the Mets” played by the wedding orchestra

All in all, it was an amazin’ day in many ways! I can't say it enough, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

One of the other fun things was Toasty’s gifts to the groomsmen. We all got different jerseys. That’s me doing my best Reyes impersonation. I think the winner for most original jersey goes to Sonny D. Knowing about Sonny’s complete love for the former Mets middle reliever who is now on fire all over San Diego, Toasty got a Heath Bell Mets jersey made. Now there are two people in the world who own a Heath Bell Mets jersey.

As for the blog, we all know that we have some big shoes to fill over the next couple of weeks, but with a powerful guest blogger line-up, I hope we’ll be able to keep it together while the new bride and groom are away. Over the next two weeks, we’ll have posts from me, Sonny D, Bookie D, Mr. Met, The Schwizz, Mikey P, and even the Bronx Lurker (damn that Colorado series). If anyone else wants to be “Toasty for a day”, let me know.

I’ll leave you with a quote from the snubbed John Maine that pretty much sums up my feelings on the All-Star festivities. When asked if he’ll be watching, Chowmein said “Every year I say I’m going to, but once it starts I might have a change of heart”. I’m right there with you Johnny.

Excellent job of posting by Tom a/k/a "the Zen Master"...so named for his invaluable assistance in setting up the video slide show referenced in today's blog.

Strong work there Joe. Mazel-tov! Rickey's of course referring to your proud ownership of a Heath Bell jersey. Did it come with a double quarter pounder & cheese?

I think I need to go buy a Mighty Joe Smith jersey so I feel worthy enough of attending games with Sonny D.

Toasty Sr. Your bill is in the mail for my AV services!

Thanks Bookie! I think we all should get jerseys of little known set-up men. They probably are the least sold jerseys in the league. They should make them with Velcro letters numbers on the back.

Heath Bell is only little known for now. Once I start wearing my jersey out in public (and once Heath starts closing for the aging Trevor Hoffman and goes on to save 500+ games) he won't be a little known set-up man any longer.

It's a good thing Toasty didn't remember that I once mentioned that I would have liked to own a Jason Phillips jersey...

so who is on deck for the blog?

So did John Maine get invited to the wedding at least?

Heath Bell, his brother Clarke Bar Bell, and Sonny D.

As for Maine, he is getting dissed all over. No invite to San Fran and no invite to the wedding.

On another note, somebody recently told me that Maine lives in my neighborhood in Long Island City. I plan on camping out on the sidewalk in front of my building until I get confirmation
